One Scientific Ltd is an independent food and water testing laboratory, UKAS accredited to BS EN ISO 17025 (accreditation no. 2048), with Marks & Spencer ISA and Tesco TLAS approval. Established in the 1980s, we offer a 365 day a year service to our customers.
Our technical expertise cover all aspects of food manufacturing and water service industries. We have a large customer base working with businesses from small outlets to blue chip companies. All services are delivered from our modern, well-equipped laboratory using a fully integrated Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

Tony Barrett-Jones – Managing Director
Tony has spent the last 30 years working in the laboratory industry in the food and water sectors. His extensive knowledge of microbiology and chemistry provides the solid base on which the company is built.
Sophie McElhatton, BSc – Technical Manager
Sophie, our qualified Microbiologist can provide technical support and advice on all of your microbiological issues. She manages the structures and technical disciplines of our microbiological laboratory that are needed to ensure it maintains our high UKAS standard to BS EN ISO 17025:2017, along with technical compliance to M&S and Tesco requirements.
Kate Elliott, BSc – Client Services and Operations Manager
Kate provides friendly customer-focused support which, along with her technical knowledge, allows her to respond to all of our customers’ differing requirements.
Jenny Youngs, MSc – Compliance Manager
With a background in compliance, Jenny is experienced in managing laboratory quality systems to BS EN ISO 17025. Responsible for Quality (BS EN ISO 17025 and ISA/TLAS), Health & Safety and Environment, Jenny ensures that we maintain the highest standards for our customers, and as a business follow industry best-practice.
Samantha Brown, BSc – Laboratory Services Manager
Samantha has worked in various sectors of the laboratory and has extensive knowledge in many facets of the business. She ensures that laboratory supply chains remain reliable and meet the high standards our customers expect, and that customer samples are processed efficiently and without error.
Monee Shamsher, PhD – Molecular Technical Manager
Monee has worked as a Molecular Biologist in multidisciplinary research field for over 30 years. She uses her expertise in protein and molecular biology techniques for applications in the food industry and is responsible for the daily management of the UKAS accredited food allergen and meat speciation lab at One Scientific. Her wealth of knowledge in the food adulteration testing field also ensures that speciation tests are done to the highest possible quality and accuracy and can provide technical support and guidance to our customers for a range of food related queries.
Laboratory and Office Staff
Our enthusiastic team of laboratory and office staff are trained to deliver the level of quality testing and analysis, and customer service that you would expect from One Scientific. All of our laboratory staff participate in the LGC or FAPAS Standards Food Proficiency Testing Scheme on a monthly basis to cover all UKAS accredited methods in a twelve month period.
